As a couple's therapist, I am acutely aware
of just how isolated women tend to become
once they get into relationships.
Often, when women fall in love they tend to
neglect their friendships, and sometimes
even lose friends. Women also tend to
neglect themselves, and their own interests.
The energy that goes into starting up a
relationship can sometimes cause couples to
stop nurturing friendships, and over time,
the couple often feels disconnected or

Who is behind
theLcafe and what's the goal?
My name is Michele O'Mara and I am a
psychotherapist in Indianapolis, IN with a
practice that specializes with LGBT folks, and
in particular single and partnered lesbians.
Over the last decade plus, I have worked hard to
create opportunities for women to connect, and
while I have had some great success in doing
this, I consistently feel like there is more I
should be doing.
I have met a few thousand lesbians during the
last 15 years and there are so many amazing,
talented, beautiful, interesting, and likeable
women who are disconnected. So many women
who wish to expand their network of friends.
So many women who want to find a healthy way to
meet a new partner. The internet has been
an intimidating place for a lot of women,
particularly those who are 50+ years. My
hope is that theLcafe offers a safe, happy
place for all women wishing to connect.
I am blessed with a beautiful wife, Teresa, whom
I married in 2000. In 2002 we welcomed our
twin sons Mitchell and Cameron to the world.
I have a great family and the support of my
parents, Bill and Karen, and I am so grateful,
everyday, for the goodness all around me.
I wish that for everyone - to feel at peace in
your skin, and in your life, and to live your
dreams. If I can assist in any part of
